We’ll be posting these sort of short notes for education marketing. The intent is to give quick tips for when there’s an idea, but not enough time to sit down and write (or for you, maybe read) a full article. Please make sure you look at the related article posts as well.
The “quick” aspect also sort of gives us the topic for this particular post.
Question: Can you explain your curriculum in 30 seconds or less? You’ve most likely heard of the elevator pitch, and that one should to be able to do something similar for academic programs. The first time you encounter a potential student, you do not have luxury or time to go into the hard-core information about the course, so have a seat and create the best possible 30-second pitch for your school.
Practice your elevator pitch.
Have the entire school staff examine it and offer suggestions. Test a few different options and wordings. Work on having a version that’s written, one for the using on a phone call, one that’s targeted at speaking with parents, another for students who contact via email, and one for when someone visits the campus.
